The Johnson M1941 Rifle is a semi-automatic rifle designed by Melvin Johnson and produced by Johnson Automatics from 1941 to 1945. The Johnson rifle was fed from a 10-round rotary magazine that could be loaded from the top with stripper clips. It was adopted by the United States Marine Corps and the Dutch East Indies Army. The LMG fires the .30-06 Springfield cartridge from a 20-round detachable box magazine. It features a quick-change barrel, a bipod, and a rear monopod. The Johnson LMG was lighter than the Browning Automatic Rifle at 13 pounds. It was adopted in limited numbers by the U.S. Marine Corps and the Dutch East Indies Army.
