The FN F2000 is a futuristic, bullpup‑style assault rifle developed by FN Herstal in the late 1990s to meet the emerging demand for compact, highly modular infantry weapons. Conceived primarily for military and law‑enforcement use, the F2000 integrates a fully ambidextrous layout, a forward‑mounted, polymer‑cased magazine, and a proprietary integrated optical sight that folds into the top of the receiver. Its most distinguishing features include a unique forward‑ejection system that directs spent casings away from the shooter, allowing true left‑handed operation without modification, and a low‑profile, monolithic upper receiver that reduces overall length to 790 mm (31.1 in) while maintaining a 508 mm (20 in) barrel. The rifle’s design emphasizes ergonomics, rapid accessory attachment via multiple Picatinny rails, and a sealed, corrosion‑resistant construction. Within the firearms community the F2000 is praised for its innovative handling and futuristic aesthetics, though some critics note its unconventional magazine placement and higher production cost. Its blend of compactness, ambidexterity, and integrated optics makes it a unique solution for close‑quarters and urban combat scenarios.

The Steyr AUG (Armee-Universal-Gewehr, 'Army Universal Rifle') is an Austrian bullpup assault rifle that revolutionized infantry weapon design through its modular, compact architecture. Conceived as a universal weapon platform for the Austrian Bundesheer, it blends a short overall length with a full-length barrel via the bullpup configuration, enhancing maneuverability without sacrificing ballistic performance. Key innovations include a synthetic polymer stock housing the action, a quick-change barrel system for tactical flexibility, and an integrated optical sight (typically a 1.5x or 3x scope) built into the carry handle. The AUG's selective-fire control is uniquely integrated into a two-stage trigger: a short pull for semiautomatic fire and a longer pull for full automatic, eliminating the need for a conventional fire selector lever. Its gas-operated, rotating-bolt action with a short-stroke piston ensures reliability in adverse conditions, while the ambidextrous ejection port (by swapping the bolt head) accommodates left-handed shooters. Reputed for its ruggedness, accuracy, and futuristic aesthetics, the AUG has become an iconic bullpup design, influencing later platforms such as the British SA80 and the French FAMAS. However, its non-standard manual of arms and trigger reach limitations have drawn criticism. Despite these quirks, the AUG remains a benchmark in ergonomic and compact rifle design, serving military, law enforcement, and civilian markets worldwide.

The Norinco Type 97 is a Chinese bullpup assault rifle chambered in 5.56×45mm NATO, designed for export. It is the export variant of the QBZ-95, with modifications for NATO-standard ammunition and STANAG compatibility.
