SOR-556 Mk2

The AAC Honey Badger is a compact, integrally suppressed rifle built on an AR‑15 platform and chambered primarily for the .300 AAC Blackout (7.62×35 mm) cartridge. Designed by Advanced Armament Corporation to meet the U.S. Special Operations Command’s demand for a short‑barreled, low‑signature weapon, the Honey Badger combines a 10.5‑inch (267 mm) barrel with a proprietary short‑stroke gas piston system and a built‑in suppressor that reduces overall length to roughly 16.5 in (420 mm) with the stock collapsed. Its lightweight polymer handguard, collapsible stock, and ambidextrous controls make it suitable for close‑quarters battle, tactical law‑enforcement operations, and civilian NFA‑compliant use. The rifle’s ability to fire both subsonic and supersonic loads from the same platform, while maintaining reliable cycling and minimal recoil, has earned it a reputation for versatility and stealth. Unique features include the integral suppressor that can be detached without tools, a quick‑change barrel system, and a mil‑spec trigger that can be upgraded to a two‑stage unit. The Honey Badger’s blend of compactness, suppressed performance, and AR‑15 ergonomics has made it a benchmark for modern personal defense weapons.

The AK-47 (Avtomat Kalashnikova model 1947) is a gas‑operated, selective‑fire assault rifle designed around a simple, rugged construction philosophy that prioritises reliability under adverse conditions over ergonomic refinement. Intended primarily for military service, it has also been adopted by numerous law‑enforcement and paramilitary groups, and civilian semi‑automatic variants are widespread. Its key innovations include a long‑stroke gas piston with a rotating bolt, a chrome‑lined barrel and chamber, and a stamped or milled receiver that can be produced with minimal tooling. The AK‑47’s reputation rests on its legendary durability, ease of maintenance, and ability to function with dirty ammunition, which has made it the archetype of a “battle‑ready” weapon. Distinguishing characteristics are its distinctive curved 30‑round magazine, pronounced recoil spring guide rod, and the iconic wooden or polymer stock with a pistol grip that together create a silhouette recognized worldwide.

The AK4D is a Swedish‑manufactured, designated‑marksman variant of the AK4 family, itself a licensed copy of the Belgian FN FNC. Developed for the Swedish Armed Forces, the AK4D combines the proven gas‑piston, rotating‑bolt system of the original assault rifle with a longer 508 mm (20 in) barrel, a side‑folding stock, and a built‑in bipod, optimizing it for precision fire at extended ranges (600–800 m). Intended primarily for military use as a squad designated‑marksman rifle, the AK4D features a free‑floating barrel, enhanced trigger pull, and provision for optical sights such as the Hensoldt 4×24 telescopic sight. Its reputation in the firearms community rests on reliability, cold‑weather performance, and ease of maintenance, while its modularity allows quick conversion back to a standard AK4 configuration. Unique characteristics include the integrated bipod, a longer sight radius, and a specially milled gas block that reduces recoil impulse, making it a distinct bridge between standard assault rifles and dedicated sniper platforms.
