The AAC MPW (Multi-Purpose Weapon) is a semi-automatic AR-15-pattern rifle developed by Advanced Armament Corporation (AAC) to serve as a dedicated suppressed shooting platform. Introduced around 2011 alongside the .300 AAC Blackout cartridge, the MPW was engineered from the outset for use with sound suppressors, featuring an adjustable gas block, a 51T Blackout flash hider/mount, and a nickel-boron coated bolt carrier group to manage fouling and cyclic rate. It was offered in 5.56x45mm NATO and .300 AAC Blackout, with barrel lengths including 9-inch, 12.5-inch, and 16-inch, allowing configurations as short-barreled rifles, pistols, or carbines. The rifle used a direct-impingement gas system and standard AR-15 controls, but its gas regulation and suppressor-ready muzzle device distinguished it from typical mil-spec carbines. It typically wore Magpul furniture and a Geissele trigger, making it a premium factory build. In the firearms community, the MPW is remembered as an early factory suppressed-optimized AR-15 and a showcase for .300 BLK, though it never achieved widespread military adoption. Its production was limited and eventually discontinued after AAC's corporate changes, but it influenced later suppressor-ready AR-15 designs.
