Overview

The Smith and Wesson Model 12 is an aluminum-alloy frame version of the legendary Model 10 revolver. It was introduced in 1953 as the Airweight Military and Police model. The Model 12 uses an aluminum frame to reduce weight by nearly 40 percent compared to the steel Model 10. It fires the .38 Special cartridge from a 6-round cylinder. The Model 12 was popular with plainclothes officers and as a backup sidearm.
