Peabody Rifle

The Peabody Rifle was a .45-70 caliber single-shot breech-loading rifle using a unique hinged breechblock that tilted downward at the rear for loading. Designed by Henry Peabody, it was one of the first successful trapdoor-style breechloaders. The design was noted for its simplicity and strength.
