Mossberg & Sons' philosophy of rugged simplicity, affordability, and modularity for civilian, law‑enforcement and limited military use. Its hallmark is a dual‑action, steel‑reinforced receiver with a patented “anti‑jam” bolt and a simple, interchangeable barrel system that allows rapid conversion between 12‑gauge, 20‑gauge, and .410 bore configurations. The shotgun’s ambidextrous safety lever, low‑profile stock, and easy‑to‑clean design have earned it a reputation for reliability in harsh environments, making it a staple among hunters, home‑defense owners, and tactical units. Distinguishing features include the “Mossberg choke” system, a free‑floating barrel, and a takedown design that requires no tools, which together contribute to its enduring popularity and status as one of the best‑selling shotguns in the world.
