Overview

The SilencerCo Maxim 9 is a revolutionary integrally suppressed 9x19mm semi-automatic pistol that was the first commercially available handgun with a non-removable, monolithic suppressor built directly into the firearm's frame. Unlike traditional suppressed pistols that require threading a suppressor onto a barrel, the Maxim 9's entire upper assembly functions as a suppressor, containing internal baffles that reduce sound by an average of 137 decibels without significantly increasing the pistol's overall dimensions. The pistol uses a modified tilting-barrel action with a delayed unlocking system to accommodate the suppressor integration, and features a full-length Picatinny rail and three-dot sights elevated above the suppressor body for an unobstructed sight picture. Though commercially discontinued, the Maxim 9 remains a landmark in suppressed firearm design and demonstrated the viability of factory-integrated suppression for handguns.
