Overview

The Type 99 Arisaka is a Japanese bolt-action rifle chambered in 7.7x58mm Arisaka, introduced as the standard infantry rifle of the Imperial Japanese Army. It features a distinctive chrysanthemum crest on the receiver, a dust cover over the action, and a wire monopod under the forend. The Type 99 was designed to provide more power than the earlier Type 38's 6.5mm cartridge.
