The SIG Sauer P225 is a compact single-stack semi-automatic pistol introduced in 1978, essentially a slimmed-down version of the P226. It was chambered in 9x19mm with an 8-round magazine capacity. The P225 was developed specifically for the West German police, who required a single-stack pistol for easier handling by officers with smaller hands. It shares the same proven design and reliability as the P226 but in a slimmer, lighter package. The P225 was adopted by the West German federal and state police as the P6. It was one of the most widely carried duty pistols in Germany for over three decades.
