Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company

The Sharps 1850 Carbine was a .52 caliber breech-loading single-shot carbine using Christian Sharps's patented dropping-block action. It used linen or paper cartridges ignited by a standard percussion cap. The carbine was known for its rapid loading capability and excellent accuracy compared to muzzle-loading contemporaries.
